All Caregivers need to understand the concept of elder abuse and learn about the defined types of abuse and how to report them. Sexual abuse of seniors is one of the most egregious acts. Most sexual abuse starts with grooming the client first, and then slowly moves to deeper levels of abuse. Sexual abuse results in traumatic injury that creates fear, anxiety, and deep levels of personal trauma. All caregivers are mandated reporters, and as such, they need to be trained on how to recognize and prevent all forms of abuse. The class will also cover how to report it and to whom it should be reported.

1. Assess a caregiving situation for possible client abuse.
2. Be aware of and report sexual grooming behavior.
